About
Engineer, founder,
and amateur elite athlete.
I'm Matt Goodman — founder of Vigil Autonomy, where I build sensing systems for aerial autonomy: autonomous ground stations with PPS-disciplined multi-sensor sync, RTK ground truth, cross-spectral RGB–LWIR calibration, and physics-based thermal sensor simulation for training airborne perception models.
Before that I was a research engineer in ByteDance's AI Lab computer vision group, training self-supervised vision transformers for video understanding on runs past 1,000 GPUs and billions of frames. I got my start in perception at Penn's GRASP Lab, where I earned my MS in Computer Science focused on deep learning for multi-view video.
I care about hard physical problems — perception, autonomous robotics, and the frontier-scale training infrastructure that makes both possible.
Outside of engineering I like to organize my run club @slowbigboys, train for long runs, play golf in hundred degree heat, and take things that are completely unserious entirely seriously.
